When we say ModuleOne is the world’s first bidirectional plug & play battery, is it clear what that means for you?
We’re asking because we recognize that - being energy geeks ourselves - we sometimes assume everyone knows what that means… 🤷♂️ We’ll do our best to explain exactly what a bidirectional plug-and-play battery is and what’s in it for you.
Bidirectional plug & play home battery, uh?
A bidirectional plug & play home battery is a home battery that does not require modifications to your home wiring, so there is no need for an electrician or certification. This alone will save you 500 to 1000 euros compared to classic home batteries. You can take the plug-and-play literally. When you unbox your plug-in home battery, you only need to:
plug it into a normal socket in your home,
connect it to the MyGrid app,
check your saving options.
Bidirectional
The bidirectional part is a little harder to explain. It basically means you can load energy through a simple electrical socket but also send back energy through that same socket. So, the energy can go both ways.
You can take energy from the grid—typically when prices are low—but also put energy back on the grid—typically when you send that cheap energy back onto your home grid through that same socket.
You can also send back energy onto the general grid, so not just onto your home grid. That would typically be when you have opted to help balance the grid in exchange for rewards.
No solar panels
If you don't have solar panels, our plug & play battery saves money by automatically charging energy from the grid when prices are low and discharging when prices peak.
Solar panels
If you have no solar panels, our plug & play home battery saves money by automatically charging your excess solar power and discharging that solar energy in the evening. When there isn’t enough sun, the plug-in battery will go into ‘arbitrage’ mode: the system will automatically charge when prices are low and discharge when prices peak. You can sit back and relax and monitor how much money you’re saving.
Renters and apartment dwellers
Until recently, only people or businesses with solar panels, electric cars, and home chargers were the winners in this energy transition.
With our revolutionary plug-in home battery, the benefits of the energy transition become accessible for:
renters,
people living in apartments,
any other household or business without access to roof solar.
That is fully in line with our mission, which is to make the benefits of the energy transition accessible for as many households as possible. We match the ambition of the European Commission, which wants to turn every European from a passive energy consumer into an energy citizen.
